Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Today is Christmas morning and we are trying to establish a morning/breakfast Christmas “tradition” for our new little family. I just had to share this Cinnamon Roll Dumpling recipe with you all!
It tastes like soft biscuits drenched in sticky sweet cinnamon roll sauce. If you love sweet treats then this recipe is for you. The flaky biscuits puff up while simmering in the sauce making ooey gooey dumplings. I used fat free cool whip, but mascarpone might be a nice substitute. Served with a side of bacon 😉 yes, please!
Ingredients:
- 1 can Pillsbury grands flaky layers honey butter
- 2 cups sugar free maple syrup
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Fat free cool whip
Directions:
Combine syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract in a small pot and bring to a simmer. While the cinnamon syrup is heating, slice each biscuit into 4 pieces. Once the cinnamon syrup is simmering, drop pieces of biscuit into the sauce and let simmer, flipping once or twice to cook evenly. Only place a few pieces of biscuit in the sauce at a time since they will puff up while cooking. After 2-3 minutes remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon. Top with whipped cream, cool whip, or mascarpone.
Enjoy! 😀
